Ras Mohammed National Park Ras Mohammed is one of the top dive sites in the world. Protected by its status as a national park their is an abundance of fish life that is second to none. Ranging from huge schools of giant snapper, barracuda, unicorn fish, giant morays, stingrays, and often sharks and turtles. Boats are forbidden from anchoring as it may damage the reef, as such entry is done quickly whilst the boat hovers near the reef.
The usual dive sites are shark and yolanda reef, appropriately names (the yolanda being a ship that collided with the reef, deposited its cargo of toilets and bath panels and slipped down to almost 200m.
This trip is part of our safari to the shipwreck S. S. Thistlegorm. On the way back we stop off at Shark and Yolanda for 1 dive at the enormous underwater national park. |
