What is a PADI Divemaster?
A PADI Divemaster is the first professional level qualification in the dive industry. The course, often operated as a Divemaster Internship, provides you with all the training necessary to be responsible for other divers, guide divers around dive sites and manage on site diving operations. PADI Divemasters are the backbone of the dive industry.
How do I become a PADI Divemaster?
Before you can become a PADI Divemaster you must first complete all the precceeding diver courses. To start the course you need to have completed your PADI Open Water Course (or equivelent from another training agency), PADI Advanced Open Water Course, Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care course and the PADI Rescue Course. You also need a minimum of 20 dives. Then you start the Divemaster course itself. The industry standard is a 4 week course however Dive The Gap chooses a 5 week work experience based model to provide a lot more insight into how the dive industry works.
