Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has a system of diver education unparalleled in any other diving federation. It is this reason that today 70% of divers are trained by PADI. Other than the irritatingly american advertising campaigns PADI provide a highly progressive and constructive outline to their professional. Each PADI course consists of a manual for independent study, a video to backup what is read in the manual and the instructor (give or take saying the same thing) applying it to practical in water training sessions. Each training module is backed up by a chapter in a book and a section of a video. PADI also make the course entirely performance based. A diver cannot continue to the next section of a course until mastery has been achieved in the current one.
It is through this system that PADI has simplified and in all fairness, de-militarised scuba diving whilst maintaining an impeccable safety record. At Dive The Gap we have some of the most highly awarded staff in the industry, with a combined total of more than 50 years as PADI professionals. The dive centre has been awarded 5 time, winners of the PADI recognition for excellence, holder of the PADI 5-Star status for Instructor Development and one of only a handful of National Geographic dive centres in the world.
