Language
In Egypt the predominant language is Arabic, however the spoken dialect is rather different from the traditionally Arabic and is more of an evolution of slang. The other main language is English, and almost all restaurant owners, bar staff and shop keepers are almost fluent, especially in their ability to haggle.

Other languages found in Dahab are Dutch, German, Italian, Polish, Russian and French, due to the tourist industry.

Communication
Dahab has full mobile telephone coverage for all major networks. With Vodafone EG and Mobinil (Orange) being the predominate carriers. You can use your UK phone without any problems in Egypt, but keep in mind that an average call to the UK is around £1.10 per minute.

Our Resort has wireless internet access covering the hotel rooms, shared rooms, bar, restaurant, lobby, upstairs terrace, pool area, dive centre and beach. Many Restaurants in Dahab also have wi fi internet access. On top of that we also have public computer in the hotel lobby that can be used by any of our guests to browse the internet for free.

Dahab has Internet Cafes, Mobile telephone shops, post offices and Fed-Ex.

Money
The Egyptian currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). To use the example of a hundred egyptian pounds it would be written as :: 100LE.

The exchange rate varies between 8.5 and 10.5 and is usually somewhere in the middle. Therefore 100LE is give or take £10.

The banks in Egypt, (CIB and NBE) will except almost every currency and exchange it for almost no charge at all!

Police
The tourist police in Dahab ensure the safety of all tourist in the area.

Health
Dahab has 1 hospital, 1 very respectable poly clinic and 2 hyperbaric medical centres. Dahab has extremely well equipped medical facilities and staff, with one of the finest diving doctors in the world residing here.

Bag Packing
The most obvious question here is what do you need. Dahab is pretty much an all year season and coming fresh from the UK you will find the climate fantastic. Pack plenty of shorts and T-Shirts, but bring a pair of trousers and a jacket just in case. Bring any previous diving certificates that you have with you and change some money in the UK in advance.

The Airport
Don't worry, nothing else costs that much!
